J&K records 123 new Covid cases, 1 death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 123 fresh coronavirus cases and one death on Monday, taking the number of infections and fatalities to 3,20,024 and 4,365 respectively, officials said.

Of the new cases, 72 were from Kashmir and 51 were from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said adding the lone fresh fatality was reported from the Kashmir Valley.

Srinagar recorded the highest number of cases at 33, followed by 17 in Jammu and 15 in Doda district.

While Kathua and Samba had no fresh cases, the number of fresh cases in 15 other districts remained in single digit, they said.

They also said 268 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, including 175 from Kashmir and 93 from Jammu division while as 99.21 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir so far.

Meanwhile, there were 34 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the UT as one fresh case was reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,20,024 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 1,773 are active positive cases in J&K, while as 3,13,886 persons have recovered and 4,365 have died – 2,233 in Kashmir and 2,132 in Jammu division.
