Ahead of Eid-ul -Adha, FCS&CA conducts market checking across Srinagar

Srinagar: To crack the whip on the hoarders and illegal profiteers in wake of upcoming Eid-ul-Adha, a team of officials headed by Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Dr Abdul Salam Mir conducted the market checking across district Srinagar here.

On the occasion, the team inspected the rates of sacrificial animals and visited various food establishments including chicken, mutton, fruit and vegetable shops. The team sealed four establishments, filed one FIR and recovered a fine of Rs 14200 from the erring shopkeepers

The rotten fruits and vegetables were also destroyed on the spot in the presence of the public.

The team interacted with many people on the spot wherein they have been told not to pay more money than the price fixed by the Government. However, the black marketers, as well as hoarders, have been asked to refrain from such nefarious designs during the EID period otherwise strict action shall follow against them.

The public, in general, has been asked to lodge their complaint on toll-free number 18001807011 in case of any violation of rates in the market.

Assistant Director Enforcement Kashmir and Assistant Director Srinagar North besides other officers and officials accompanied the Director during the inspection of various establishments.
