Jammu: Secretary Cooperatives Department, Yasha Mudgal, today chaired a seminar organized by J&K Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Union limited (JKDCUL) to discuss SAHKAR SE SAMRIDHI besides deliberating on strategies for revival of Cooperative Movement in Jammu and Kashmir.

Registrar Cooperative Societies, Shafqat Iqbal besides other senior officers and stakeholders attended the event.

Yasha Mudgal said that the motive of organising such seminars is to work out modalities for revival of cooperative movement through creation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the Union Territory. She assured to fast track registrations of new age cooperatives getting registered under various activities.

She appreciated NABARD Jammu, KVK (SUKAST) and Agriculture department for giving detailed account of schemes for promotion of Cooperatives in the UT.

Secretary said that the UT has vast potential and scope in the Cooperative sector for pushing economic growth and the government is committed to provide best market value of farmers’ products.

Registrar, Cooperatives, Shafqat Iqbal, highlighted various aspects of the scheme of Cooperative Department saying that the department will focus on simplifying the process of registration of FPOs. He said that the government has launched various schemes for streamlining of Cooperatives Department. He assured solution of all present and past grievances along with support for creation of new FPOs.

Registration certificates of “Ekta Mushroom Growers Producers Cooperative Limited” were also presented to farmers by the Secretary.

Secretary, JKDCUL, Vikrant Dogra, said that since JKDCUL has been empanelled as a Cluster Based Business Organization (CBBO) with NABARD and NCDC, it is their endeavor to see maximum farmers joining the FPO movement under various cooperative acts to ensure that maximum people get benefitted from the various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

Sonika Rana, AGM, NABARD; Dr. Puneet Choudhary, Head KVK SUKAST-J, Dr. G S Reen, Joint Director, Agriculture, Ranjeet Kotwal, Deputy Registrar Agriculture Jammu; Punika Pandita and others were present.
