Srinagar: Three persons riding a motorcycle were hit by an unknown vehicle at Gundipora Qazigund resulting in on-spot death of two while a third person was grievously wounded, police said.

It said while Nisar Ahmad Thokar and Javid Ahmad Thokar, the sons of Abdul Gani Thokar, of Sopat Tengpora, died on the spot, the third person –Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, son of Ghulam Rasool Najar, also a resident of Sopat Tangpora, was shifted to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle that had hit the motorcycle was identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani, resident of Chamalvas Banihal. He was arrested and the vehicle (JK01F-8968) was also seized, police said.

In another incident, Police Station Qaimoh received information that a vehicle (JK02AB-0099) hit and injured three pedestrians — Rumeena Jan, Mubeena Akther and Jasim Mohammad Dar — all the residents of Gufbal Qaimoh. They were immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

The driver of the vehicle — Ghulam Jeelani, son of Ali Mohammad Wani, resident of Firdous Colony Buchpora Srinagar, was arrested and the vehicle seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant section of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
