Jammu: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, in his message on World Blood Donor Day, highlighted the need to create wider public awareness for safe blood and blood products for transfusion, besides reinforcing the humanitarian call for more people, especially the youth to come forward and donate blood regularly to save lives and inspire others to do the same.

This year’s World Blood Donor Day slogan “Give blood and keep the World beating” focuses on the contribution of blood donors towards national health systems and in improving the health of others in the community, said the Lt Governor.

The ongoing health crisis has brought all of us together in the fight against the global pandemic. Similarly, we all must work collectively to ensure that everyone who needs safe blood has access to it, the Lt Governor added.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards the voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors all over the world or their extraordinary efforts in saving lives by continuing blood & plasma donations to the patients who need transfusion, especially during the time of unprecedented health crisis, observed the Lt Governor.

Everyone’s involvement and support will make a greater impact in encouraging the life-saving act in society in the form of blood donation, he added.

The Lt Governor also called upon the Administrative and Health authorities to provide adequate resources, putting in place a robust mechanism for ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply during normal and emergency times.

This year’s campaign has a special focus on the role of young people who have been at the forefront of activities and initiatives aimed at achieving safe blood supplies through voluntary blood donations.
