J&K records 774 fresh COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 774 fresh cases taking the infection tally to 3,07,412, while 12 fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,186, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 545 were reported from Kashmir Valley and 229 were from the Jammu division of the union territory, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 149 cases, followed by 83 in Budgam district.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 4,186 as 12 patients — seven from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Valley –died in the last 24 hours, officials said.

They said 1965 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during this period — including 1267 from Kashmir and 698 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, the officials also said there were 19 confirmed cases of mucormycosis or black fungus in the union territory and no fresh case was reported since Saturday evening.

They said 76.05 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,07,412 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 15,081 are active positive cases across J&K, while 2,88,145 have recovered so far and 4,186 have died — 2149 in Kashmir and 2037 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 91,73,077 test results available, 88,65,665 samples have tested as negative till 13th June, 2021.

Till date 22,36,555 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 62,794 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 15,081 in isolation and 1,46,783 in home surveillance while 20,07,711 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
