LG sanctions Rs 40 lakhs relief to slain councillor’s family

Jamm: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday visited the family of Municipal Councillor Rakesh Pandita, who was killed by militants in Tral, Pulwama on June 02, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members.

Conveying condolences to the family members of the deceased president of the Municipal Committee Tral, the LG said that whole administration stands with the family of late Rakesh Pandita in this hour of grief.

He assured the bereaved family of stringent action against the perpetrators, and informed that a high-level investigation has already been initiated. He added that the militants involved in this heinous act of violence will be brought to justice soon.

The LG sanctioned the ex-gratia amount of Rs 40 lakhs to the family members of late Pandita.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor also visited the residence of Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu, here and extended condolences to the latter on the demise of his father, Upendra Prasad Singh.

The LG, accompanied by his Principal Secretary Nitishwar Kumar, conveyed his commiserations to the bereaved family, close relatives and friends, and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, an official press release said.
