Srinagar: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, Arif Raja was on Saturday elected unopposed as the Chairman of Public Health and Sanitation Standing Committee (PHSSC), Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Raja, who represents Nawakadal area of the old city as SMC Corporator, secured eight out of nine votes and was elected as the Chairman of Public Health and Sanitation Standing Committee of SMC.

The election was held at SMC office here this afternoon in which Srinagar Mayor, Junaid Azim Matoo and Deputy Mayor, Parvaiz Qadri were also present.

Talking to reporters, Mayor Junaid Azim Matoo said the elections for PHSSC were held at SMC office and “Arif  Majeed Pampori was elected unopposed as the Chairman of Public Health and Sanitation Standing Committee; he got eight out nine votes, we wish him all the best.”.

Raja while expressing gratitude to the fellow corporators for reposing their trust in him, said that a meeting of standing committee will be convened next week in which future strategy will be chalked out.
