Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 1,098 fresh COVID-19 cases that took its tally to 3,03,769 while 17 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,118, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 774 were reported from the Kashmir Valley and 324 from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 254, followed by 113 in Budgam.

Officials said 17 COVID-19 deaths have been reported — 10 from Kashmir and seven from Jammu division – during past 24 hours.

They said 3046 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during this period. This includes 2102 from Kashmir and 944 from Jammu division.

Officials also said there are 18 confirmed cases of mucormycosis or black fungus in the union territory, with one fresh case reported since last evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,03,749 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 19,852 active cases in J&K, while so far 2,79,779 have recovered and 4,118 have died — 2118 in Kashmir Valley and 2000 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 89,85,138 test results available, 86,81,389 samples have tested negative till June 09, 2021.

Till date 21,94,151 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 79,267 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 19,852 in isolation and 1,43,463 in home surveillance while 19,47,451 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
