Youth drowns to death in Kupwara

Srinagar: A 22-year-old youth died after he accidentally fell from a waterfall in Aharbal area of Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday afternoon.

Quoting an official, news agency KNO reported that Suhaib Ahmad Dar, 22,son of Shabir Ahmad Dar of Nowgam Shangus, was on a picnic to Aharbal waterfall along with his friends when he accidentally fell off it.

Rescuers immediately swung into the action but couldn’t save his life, the official said.

He said the body of the deceased will be handed over to his legal heirs after completion of all legal formalities.

This is the 2nd such incident in the last two days where a picnic turned into a tragedy.

On Monday, a class 12 student, Faizan Ashraf from Kathair Gund village in central Kashmir’s Budgam drowned in Nilnag water body in the upper reaches of the district while on a picnic with his friends.
