PCB chairman releases eco-friendly products to mark World Environment Day

JAMMU: J&K Pollution Control Committee in collaboration with SAMBHAV Eco Alternatives (Disha Volunteer Organization) and Indian Oil Ltd (A Government of India’s undertaking) today organized World Environment Day in the office complex of J&K PCC, Narwal. Jammu.

On the occasion, Chairman, IK Pollution Control Committee, Suresh Chugh released Eco-friendly bio-degradable products including decorative items, Flower Pots, Agarbatis and Dhoops made of cow dung and other eco-friendly products etc.

Addressing the participants, Chairman, JK PCC said that the time has come to use eco-friendly products in life, as due to rampant use of chemical products the environment of the country as well as the whole world is deteriorating every passing day. He lauded the role of DISHA (an NGO) in managing cow dung from the Urban Areas, which is the cause of concern as a large number of stray animals litter everywhere.

The Chairman also thanked the Indian Oil Corporation for financing a Briquette Machine to D1SHA Organization under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Such machines can be used for commercial purposes which may also improve the socio-economic conditions of the women of rural/urban areas. He requested Indian Oil Corporation and other industrial houses to come forward and support the noble cause of organization like DISHA.

Member Secretary, JK PCC, B. M. Sharma said that all the products introduced by the DISHA Organization are made of cow dung and other supportive materials, which are eco-friendly. He appreciated the efforts made by the DISHA in making the products out of cow dung, which go a long way in cleaning the urban areas of Jammu and other areas. It has been seen that bovine animals are left as a stray when they stop giving milk and they litter here and there. He also thanked the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for supporting the cause under r Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and requested more efforts in this regard.

Regional Director, PCC, Jammu, Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain briefed the Chairman, Member Secretary and other participants about the event and said that due to COVID-19 restrictions the programme has been organized as per guidelines issued by the Government following strict SOP in this regard.

Rajesh Salgotra, Member, DISHA thanked the Chairman, Member Secretary, Regional Director and officers of PCB for inviting them to display their products on the occasion of World Environment Day. He requested all the participants to use the products in houses regularly, so the initiative taken by them in managing cow dung in Urban areas and to improve socio-economic conditions of women will bear fruits.

Janidal, DO, PCC Jammu(South), Arshad Malik DO, PCC, Jammu(North), Deepak Abrol, AEE (HQ), Rajiv Yadav, State Coordinator Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Ajay Wazir, DGM, IOCL, Sanjeev Sharma, DGM (LPG) IOCL, Tanveer Ahmad, Assistant Information Officer and Predumen Pandita, PA to Regional Director, PCC, Jammu.
