Navin chairs SLTC meet regarding finalization of scale of finance for JK crops

Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare and Horticulture department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today chaired a meeting of State Level Technical Committee (SLTC) regarding finalization of scale of finance.

Principal Secretary had an elaborate discussion on the fixation of the scale of financing for different crops for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He asked the stakeholders to adopt a realistic approach during the entire process of finalizing scale of finance. He said the process should be in consonance with the economic sustainability of different agricultural interventions that are being adopted during the cultivation of different crops.

Navin highlighted the importance of taking into consideration all the pros and cons while finalizing the scale of finance for all the crops cultivated in the Union Territory.

Earlier, Director Agriculture, Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, briefed about various parameters that have been taken into consideration while deciding the scale of finance for different crops.

Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Horticulture, Jahangir Hashmi, Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, Director, Sericulture, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, Registrar Cooperatives J&K, Director Fisheries, Director Sheep Husbandry, Director Animal Husbandry, representatives of SKUAST, conveyor SLBC, General Manager NABARD, representatives of Banks while officers from Jammu division participated online.

Later, Principal Secretary chaired a separate meeting of the sub-committee to the state-level coordination committee on crop insurance.
