Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 1,718 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total number of cases to 2,94,078 while 24 deaths in the past as many hours took the toll to 3,963 in the Union Territory, officials said.
Out of the fresh cases, 1,133 were from Kashmir Valley and 585 were from Jammu division of the UT, they said.
The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 320 cases, followed by 169 in Jammu district and 158 in Pulwama district.
The death toll in the UT due to the pandemic rose to 3,963 with 24 patients — 17 from Kashmir and seven from Jammu division – dying in the past 24 hours.
Officials also said that during this period, 3391 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals, including 2064 from Kashmir and 1327 from Jammu division.
Meanwhile, the officials also said there were 12 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the UT as two fresh cases were reported since last evening.
According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,94,078 positive cases cumulatively recorded so far, currently there are 31,579 active positive cases in J&K, while 2,58,536 have recovered and 3,963 have died — 2031 in Kashmir Valley and 1932 in Jammu division.
The bulletin further said that out of 86,51,026 test results available, 83,56,948 samples have tested as negative till June 02, 2021.
Till date 21,09,281 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 81,451 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 31,579 in isolation and 1,46,745 in home surveillance while 18,45,543 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
