Charar-e-Shareef hit-and-run case solved: Police

Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have solved a ‘hit and run’ case in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district by arresting the driver involved in the act.

A police spokesman told the news agency— Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on May 30, a youth was killed after a vehicle hit him when he was riding his bike at Futlipora village of Charar-e-Shareef area following which the driver fled the spot.

He said that police after receiving an information shifted the injured to SMHS hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

During the course of the investigation, a search for the vehicle was started and with the help of technical evidence, human inputs, and strenuous efforts, the investigating team zeroed in on one accused person identified as driver Jahinger Ahmad Dar, son of Muhammad Shaban Dar of Vishroi Shopian, he said.

“The accused was arrested. He has been taken into police custody. Besides, the vehicle used in the commission of the crime, was also seized,” he said.

He said that further investigation into the matter is going on. (KNO)
