COVID: 2,237 fresh cases, 45 deaths recorded in J&K

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 2,237 fresh Covid cases, which took the tally to 2,72,858, while 45 deaths in the past 24 hours pushed the toll to 3,609 in the union territory, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 854 were from the Jammu division and 1,383 from the Kashmir division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Jammu district recorded the highest 441 cases, followed by 309 in Srinagar district and 221 in Budgam district.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 3,609 as 45 patients — 29 from Jammu division and 16 from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours.

Officials also said that 3999 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals in the past 24 hours. These include 2509 from Kashmir Valley and 1490 from Jammu division.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,72,858 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 45,630 positive cases across the UT, while 2,23,619 have recovered and 3609 have died — 1877 in Kashmir and 1732 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 82,70,069 test results available, 79,97,211 samples have tested as negative till May 24, 2021.

It said till date 20,35,593 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,787 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 45,630 in isolation and 1,41,002 in home surveillance. Besides, 17,70,565 persons have completed their surveillance period.
