Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported a record single day spike of 4,926 new COVID-19 cases even as 52 more patients succumbed to the viral infection.

As per the government data, the fresh cases comprise 3,241 in Kashmir division and 1,685 in Jammu reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the 52 fresh fatalities, 34 of them were reported in Jammu while 18 were reported in Kashmir taking the overall tally in J&K to 2,562.

Officials also said that during past 24 hours, 2836 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals. These include 1795 patients from Kashmir and 1041 from Jammu division.

According to the daily media bulletin on COVID-19, out of 201511 positive cases detected thus far, currently 41666 are active positive, 157283 have recovered and 2562 have died; 1068 in Jammu division and 1494 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 7507938 test results available, 7306427 samples have been tested as negative till May 06, 2021.

Till date 1867856 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 91693 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 41666 in isolation and 119000 in home surveillance. Besides, 1612935 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
