Dr Samoon reviews languishing SDD dev projects, emphasizes timely completion

JAMMU: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today reviewed status of new Polytechnics proposed besides taking stock of ongoing languishing projects of Skill Development Department.

The meeting was attended by the Director, SDD, Sajjad Hussain Ganie; Joint Director Planning, Sapna Slathia; Deputy Director Planning, Umesh Baroo; Managing Director, JKPCC; Principal of Polytechnics Jammu City and others concerned officers while Kashmir based officers participated online.

Principal Secretary, while assessing progress on various ongoing languishing projects being executed by SDD, asked the concerned Head of Departments as well as nodal agencies to complete these crucial works in a time-bound manner.

Dr Samoon reviewed district-wise progress of these projects and cautioned the concerned officers against any laxity towards quality and timely completion of these development projects of vital significance. He instructed them to complete all pending formalities, if any, saying that there should be zero tolerance towards delay in completion of these projects.

He stressed upon the concerned authorities to offer latest courses to the aspirants as per industrial demands so that they can get benefitted and become job provider rather than job seekers.

Director SDD informed the meeting that 20 languishing projects have been sanctioned, of which, 10 have been completed while 10 projects are under execution. He also informed that 10 language laboratories have been established at Government Boys Polytechnic Jammu, Government Women Polytechnic Jammu, KGP Srinagar, Government Polytechnics Reasi, Kathua, Samba, Anantnag, Budgam, Ganderbal and Kulgam.

The meeting also discussed status of funds received and utilized under civil works of 18 new Polytechnics besides assessing status of 13 Polytechnics as languishing projects for funding through JKIDFC.
