Police registers 218 FIRs against people for violating lockdown orders

Srinagar: Police on Monday informed that it has arrested 17 persons in the last 24 hours, lodged six FIRs and also realized a fine to the tune of ₹ 98,850 from 633 people for violating the COVID-19 guidelines/rules.

At various places police held a meetings with the imams and religious leaders, seeking their cooperation in educating the people with regard to adherence to the COVID-19 containment measures during prayers in the mosques, a police spokesman said.

“Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the police in containing the spread of coronavirus by following the SOPs/guidelines/protocols for the safety of the people. The special drive shall remain continue throughout all the districts of Valley to strengthen the safety measures,” spokesman said.
