Kupwara: Kupwara Police has solved a kidnapping case involving a minor girl within twenty-four hours of its reporting, said a police spokesperson.
The spokesperson said that on filing a missing-cum-kidnapping report by a family into a 17-year-old girl, a team was constituted to trace the minor girl.
“The team was able to successfully trace the missing girl within twenty-four hours from the custody of a 23-year-old culprit identified as one Farooq Ahmad Tantray of Machil area in the district”, the spokesperson said.
An FIR number 13/2021 under sections 363, 109 IPC has been registered against the accused at police station Sogam, he said. “The girl has been handed over to the family after the conduct of necessary medico-legal formalities.”
