The trained youth hail from different areas of these districts and the purpose was to provide training facilities at their doorstep so that the scheme will cover maximum unemployed youth. The Institute trained the candidates in Manufacturing, Services and Agri-allied sectors under the Himayat Self Employment Scheme (HSES) of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The EDP aimed to provide lessons on skill development, performance improvement, basic business concepts, and self-development training to aspiring entrepreneurs. The Institute will now offer financial linkage to the trained youth to help them start their business ventures. This EDP’s objective is to imbibe the required entrepreneurial and managerial skills to create their business ventures amongst the participants.

The aspirants have chosen various activities, including dairy, sheep and poultry farming, small manufacturing ventures, multi-utility stores, beauty salon, shuttering houses, retail and wholesale outlets, automobile workshops, and a host of activities in the services sector.

In the next phase, the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the trained candidates shall be formulated by the Institute, followed by preparation of financial appraisals and another related process for disbursement of funds to enable the qualified candidates to establish their business ventures.

Director JKEDI, G.M. Dar, appreciated the aspiring entrepreneurs’ enthusiasm and assured all possible help to them in establishing their business ventures. JKEDI District Centres coordinated the program, and 29 candidates from Reasi, 36 candidates from Anantnag, 29 candidates from Kishtwar and 28 candidates from Kulgam completed the training program. A special team of trainers from the Institute’s Regional Centre, Jammu and Pampore Campus, imparted the training in addition to the current faculty members at the district centres. The Institute has already started new registrations for another training program for which application forms are available on all working days at the District Centres of JKEDI.
