Apni Party delegation meets domestic violence victim in Anantnag

SRINAGAR: A delegation of Apni Party on Tuesday visited the residence of a domestic violence incident victim in Badaran village of district Anantnag.

The victim, mother of two children, had sustained critical burn injuries after being set at fire allegedly by her in-laws.

Led by District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather, the delegation comprised of Senior Party Leader & Chairman Municipal Council Anantnag Hilal Ahmad Shah, Youth Wing Provincial President Kashmir Khalid Rathore, Youth leader Imad Rafi, Parvez Bhat, Party’s Womens’ wing leaders Jeela Rafeeqi, Dilshad Shaheen, Afroza, Dr. Asmat and Rafiqa.

Interacting with the victim’s family, District President Anantnag Abdul Rahim Rather informed it that Apni Party has already taken up the matter at the highest level with the concerned authorities and has already urged the government for a fast-track probe into the incident.

“We will take up the issue with the competent authorities again so that justice is delivered to the matter at the earliest. We have come here to sympathize and extend solidarity with the family of the victim at this difficult time and we pray for her speedy recovery,” he remarked.

On this occasion, former member of State Human Rights Commission and Party’s women wing leader Dilshad Shaheen expressed her deep concern over the rising number of cases of domestic violence across Jammu and Kashmir. She urged the government to take proactive measures to deal with this kind of situation and appealed to the people to give proper respect to women in all spheres of life.
