Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau on Saturday said that it trapped and arrested one Sushma Parihar, JE (Electrical) of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, red-handed while accepting bribe.

ACB spokesperson said that it had received a written complaint against Sushma Parihar, JE, presently posted at Nai Basti Fish Market, Jammu, that she was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 for sanctioning a power connection.

On this complaint, a verification was conducted and accordingly a case was registered under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, spokesperson said.

He said a trap team was constituted and independent witnesses including a woman officer and magistrate were associated with it. The trap team caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.

The amount of bribe — Rs 20,000 — was also recovered on the spot, while searches were also conducted in the house of the accused. Further investigation of the case is going on, ACB spokesperson said.
