JAMMU: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has intensified market checking ahead of Maha-Shivratri & Shab-e-Mehraj.

The market checking squads under the supervision of Assistant Director Enforcement visited Amphalla, Bantalab, Newplot, Janipur, Subash Nagar, Durga Nagar, Tallab Tillo, Bathinda, Sunjwan, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, & Gujjar Nagar.

More than 250 establishments were checked. Shopkeepers, including Sellers of Milk Products, Poultry and Meat Sellers, Vegetable Vendors were sensitized about various rules and regulations. They were instructed to display the Rate list and sell the commodities on the rates fixed by the Department/Associations.

Owners of Food Joints and Restaurants were instructed to use only commercial LPG Cylinders. People belonging to these areas were also advised to approach the Department in case of any complaint. Moreover, 43 number of offenders were booked and fines were also realized. Besides, Area Inspectors of Jammu City have been directed to visit their areas, monitor the rates & submit reports on a daily basis.
