JKRLM celebrates Int’l Women’s Day with Self Help Groups

JAMMU:  Women’s Day was celebrated with great fanfare by JKRLM UMEED Jammu here with the members of Self Help Groups from across Jammu Division.

The SHGs showcased their handmade products. The main focus of the event was on ” Mahila Udayam Mahila Sashaktikaran”.

Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director, JKRLM UMEED, Rubina Kousar laid emphasis on empowerment of women by motivating them to enhance livelihoods and encourage other needy women to organize them in UMEED fold.

She appreciated the work done by field functionaries and BPMs of Jammu Division> She asked them to work for the uplift of women, and highlighting the role and importance of women in Nation building.

Speaking on the occasion Additional Mission Director, JKRLM Jammu (UMEED) Sham Lal, appreciated the role of Women SHGs in economic development of UT and encourage them to organize themselves in cluster and Producer Groups to compete  in the market.

Earlier, the women presented a colourful cultural program which enthralled the audience, A postal exhibition was also organised  on the theme of Women’s Da.

On the occasion, the audience was also linked with women day celebration organized by NRLM Ministry of Rural Development Department, Govt of India through webex, whereat Staya Narayan Self help Group and Disha Mahila Village Organisation of Block Basohli District Kathua were facilitated with National Award.

Women institution of JKRLM across Jammu Division also attended the program of NRLM through Webex. As an encouragement, SHGs, who have initiated livelihood activity were also felicitated.
