SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday urged the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to set up sufficient number of centers in Kashmir division for the aspirants of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) courses who are scheduled to appear in the examination in April this year.

In a statement issued here, Bukhari raised the pressing concerns of NEET-PG aspirants of Kashmir division who want to appear this annual examination and cannot afford to move outside J&K for multiple reasons including the COVID pandemic.

“A huge number of aspirants who have prepared for this prestigious examination should not be deprived of this opportunity just because of lack of examination centers available in Kashmir,” Bukhari said, while appealing the union home minister to intervene into the matter.

He said the government should desist from putting the young aspirants on trial for trivial reasons. “The situation raised due to COVID pandemic and heavy airfares has already caused much chaos and now the lack of requisite number of examination centers will only add to their agony,” Bukhari remarked.

He also appealed to the Lt. Governor of J&K to pursue and take up this important matter with the union ministry of health and family welfare besides National Examination Board (NBE) authorities so that genuine grievances of these young aspirants are addressed at an earliest.

“The future of these young aspirants remains at stake. They are not asking for the moon and the stars. Even many of them belong to poor families and may not be able to afford the travelling charges. Therefore, I request the Lt. Governor of J&K to intervene and make avenues for the redressal of their grievances by facilitating establishment of sufficient number of examination centers so that all the aspirants of Kashmir are accommodated within their own division,” Bukhari demanded.
