Five 12-bore shotguns seized in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal claimed to have seized five 12-bore shotguns in Shalbugh and Paribal villages.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers from Police Station Kheerbhawani and Police Post Shadipora raided at different locations in Shalbugh and Paribal villages of Ganderbal area and recovered five 12-bore guns from poachers who are misusing their licensed weapons and caused huge loss by killing large number of migratory birds.”

“In this regard, cases vide FIR No.11/21 and FIR No. 25/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered against five Persons in Police Station Kheerbhawani and Police Station Ganderbal respectively. Further investigations have been initiated,” he said.

“SSP Ganderbal Khilal Ahmed Poswal- JKPS warned those poachers who are killing migratory birds either with licensed or unlicensed weapons. He said that killing of migratory birds not only threatens certain species but also leads to degradation of ecosystem and livelihood of locals as well,” he added.
