Srinagar: Police in Srinagar Tuesday claimed to have solved a case of theft by arresting two accused persons from whom stolen property was also recovered.

Giving details, a police spokesperson said that on February 03, Police Station Harwan received a complaint from one Javeed Ahmad Wani  that his Alto car (JK04A-1340) parked outside his house has been stolen.

A case (FIR no. 09/2021) under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Harwan, and during investigations, many suspects were rounded up.

Two suspected persons — Fahim Ahmad Malla, son of Abdul Hamid Malla of Mulphak Harwan, and Nayaz Ahmad Matta, son of Ghulam Mohidin Matta, resident of Tengpora, presently residing at Chanpora, confessed their involvement in the car theft, spokesperson said.

He said both the accused have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Harwan where they remain in custody.

On their disclosure stolen vehicle was recovered from Imamshahib Shopian.

During further questioning, both the accused also confessed to have stolen a Tata Sumo (JKO1H-5284) from Nishat area during the intervening night of February 04-05. The said vehicle was also recovered from Soura Srinagar, police spokesperson said.
