Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Srinagar and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police press release reaching here said.

In Srinagar, officers at a check point established at Baba Dem intercepted a person, later identified as Ashiq Hussain Kumar of Kralpora Nunwani Anantnag.  During search, officers were able to recover 170 grms of Cannabis   from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station M. R. Gunj where he remains in custody.

Further, officers at a check point established near Grills Restaurant Nigeen, intercepted a person identified as Tawheed Ahmad Khan of Dhobigath Hazratbal Srinagar and recovered 05 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nigeen where he remains in custody.

In Handwara, acting swiftly on reliable information, officers at a check point established at S-Bendand Langate intercepted a person, identified as Javid Ahmad Malik, of Guloora and recovered 04 kilograms of Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.

Cases have been registered in all the matters in respective police stations under relevant sections of law and further investigations have been initiated, police confirmed.
