Ramban: The work on the Bailey Bridge at Kela-Morh on Jammu-Srinagar national highway is expected to get completed by Saturday evening while as the decision regarding the restoration of traffic would be taken accordingly, a report reaching here said.

The national highway got closed five days ago after a bridge at Kela-Morh in Ramban was damaged resulting in the closure of the highway for all kinds of traffic.

“Earlier, work for reconstruction of approach road was started but later authorities decided to go for laying of a bailey bridge also and GREF was tasked to lay the bridge,” Officials informed a local news agency.

Pertinent to mention that the GERF officials started work for laying of Bailey Bridge on Thursday and are expected to complete the task by Saturday evening. “The reconstruction of the approach road of Kela bridge is expected to take some more time but laying of Bailey bridge shall restore the highway for traffic,” the officials said.

Senior SP Traffic, National Highway, Jatinder Singh Johar has said that Bailey Bridge laying is expected to get completed by Saturday after which the administration shall review the situation and decision to restore the traffic will be taken.

He also said that around one thousands to twelve hundred vehicles were stranded between Udhampur and Ramban. (KNO)
