‘3 drug peddlers arrested in Ganderbal and Awantipora; contraband substances recovered’

Srinagar: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Ganderbal and Awantipora have arrested three drug peddlers & recovered contraband substances from their possession, said a police spokesperson.

“In Ganderbal, officers at a checkpoint established at Peerpora, Ganderbal intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bashir Ahmed Khan @seta resident of Hajam Mohalla Saloora, Ganderbal. During checking, officers were able to recover 3kgs of bung powder from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Ganderbal where he remains in custody,” the spokesperson said.

“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and investigation in the matter has been initiated,” he said.

“It is pertinent to mention here that recently a drug peddler was also arrested at the same checkpoint with a consignment of 900gms of bung powder and cash amount of Rs. 2,40,500/- in case FIR No. 03/2021,” the spokesperson said.

“In Awantipora, officers at a checkpoint established at Panzgam crossing intercepted two suspicious persons. They have been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Wani and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar both residents of Ladermud Awantipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 01Kg of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where they remain in custody,” he said.

“Accordingly, case FIR No. 09/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation in the case has been started,” he added.
