First batch of women complete tailoring, weaving course

Srinagar: Entrepreneurship and Skill Development center at Balapur achieved another milestone, when the first batch of women participants successfully completed the tailoring & weaving course, a defense spokesman said in a statement issued here today.

He said that two batches were trained on Basic Skills of cloth cutting, tailoring, embroidery & weaving. The participants were also imparted with crucial entrepreneurship techniques, to run small family managed enterprises. As an enabler, the women participants were felicitated with weaving machines, which shall act as the stepping stone for their maiden ventures.

While addressing the participants, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force(V), expressed his elation on completion of this maiden course aimed at empowering women. He said that apart from enabling women to open entrepreneurial ventures, the training will also assist them to carry out their household work effectively.

“It is important in today’s society that women emerge out of routine household tasks and engage in constructive enterprises. These enterprises will enable them to remain financially independent and increase their contribution towards family and society,” he and thanked the family members of these women, for supporting them to complete this course.

While felicitating the women with weaving machines, the General Officer added that Army will continue to act as a facilitator for all their forthcoming ventures.
