Srinagar: One of the two youth, from Natipora area of the uptown city, who had gone missing earlier this week after the PSO of a PDP leader was killed in the same locality, has ‘reportedly’ joined the militant ranks.

Irfan Nazir Sofi, son of Nazir Ahmad Sofi, and Bilal Manzoor Bhat, son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, went missing on December 14 after an attack was carried out on PDP leader’s residence, killing his PSO.

SgCt Manzoor Ahmad, deployed on security duty of a Peoples Democratic Party leader Haji Parvaiz Ahmad, was killed by suspected militants at Asthan Mohalla area of Natipora in Srinagar on Monday.

Irfan, one of the missing youth, who runs a crockery shop, reportedly announced his joining militancy through an audio message last evening.

A police official told ‘Kashmir Images’ that authenticity of the audio message, which has gone viral on social media, is being verified.

In the audio message, Irfan can be heard insisting his family to not worry or attempt to search him for he has chosen the “path of Allah”.

It may be in place to mention that families of both youth have lodged a missing complaint at police post Channapora. The families have also appealed their missing kin to return without getting involved in any activity which could put them in trouble.
