Tangmarg, Dec 13: Molvi Peer Mohammad Maqsood, Imam and Khatib of Baba Payam-u-Din Reshi (RA) Shrine, a resident of Hajibal Tangmarg, passed away at the age of 95 in the intervening night of 12-13 December.

Various sections of the society expressed grief over his demise.

Molvi Peer Mohammad Maqsood was born in 1925 and initially he was associated with Forest Firm Baba Reshi as General Manager. After the death of his father, Peer Ghulam Ahmad, who was the Imam of Baba Rishi Shrine, Maulvi Pir Mohammad Maqsood was officially appointed as the Imam and Khatib of Baba Payam-u-Din (RA) Rishi Shrine to perform the duties of Imam and Khatib.

Funeral prayers of Molvi Peer Mohammad Maqsood were offered in the presence of hundreds of people at 11:30 am on Sunday.

Former Member Assembly Gulmarg Muhammad Abbas Wani, Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Former Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, PDP’s Shabir Ahmed Mir, Civil Society’s Abdul Qayoom Wani, Prof. Abdul Jabaar Gokhami and Dr. Syed Muzaffar Shirazi, Teachers Forum Secretary Mukhtar Ahmed, Tangmarg Working Journalists Association, Traders Association Tangmarg, Baba Reshi Gulmarg, Chandilora, Abdul Aziz Akbari, chief organizer of Conservative Transport Union Tangmarg, Pensioners Association, GM Magray, Lone News Agency Tangmarg, Columnist Ahmad Kashmiri have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

According to family sources, the Fateh Khawani of the deceased will be performed on Wednesday at Hajibal Tangmarg.
