369 fresh COVID-19 cases recorded in JK, 6 more deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 369 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as the total tally mounted to 1,14,407 while six more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,767, official bulletin issued by the government confirmed.

The bulletin further said that of the fresh cases, 190 were reported from the Jammu division and 179 from the Kashmir division as Jammu district recorded the highest number of new cases at 89, followed by 86 in Srinagar.

The number of active cases in the union territory surged to 5,016, while 342 more patients recovered from the infection. So far, 1,07,624 patients have recovered, the officials said.

Of the latest fatalities, three each were reported from Jammu and Kashmir regions, they said.

The Bulletin further said that out of 3243834 test results available, 3129427 samples have been tested as negative till December09, 2020.

Till date 815762 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 22212 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5016 in isolation and 27733 in home surveillance. Besides, 759034 persons have completed their surveillance period.

73 new cases reported in Ladakh, one more person dies

Leh:  One more person died due to coronavirus in Ladakh, which reported 73 fresh cases pushing the virus caseload to 8969 and fatalities to 122 in the union territory, an official bulletin said on Wednesday.

With the fresh death, fatalities in Leh district has gone up to 79. The rest of the 43 deaths due to the infection had taken place in Kargil district, according to the bulletin issued by directorate of health services, Ladakh.

Out of the new cases, it said 49 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Leh and 24 others in Kargil. The number of patients, who were successfully treated for the infection, had gone up to 8054 after 43 more patients were discharged on Tuesday, the officials said, adding they included 38 in Leh and four in Kargil.

The number of active cases stands at 793 – 672 in Leh and 121 in Kargil, the bulletin said.(PTI)
