Srinagar: Senior political leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh Saturday decided to part ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he was sidelined by the party in its seat-sharing agreements with other parties within the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Decleration (PAGD).
“NC is fighting on the majority of seats. It is not in the interests of PDP. I respect Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti and I wish them luck. I am leaving PDP on principle,” local news agency KNS quoted Beigh as saying.
Feeling sidelined in the new scheme of things, Beigh also said that he was not consulted regarding seat-sharing agreement with PAGD-affiliated parties.
“Today evening, I called her (Mehbooba) and told her about my resignation from PDP as a patron and a member.”
Regarding his future strategy, he said, “I will consult my friends and well-wishers regarding my future strategy.”
Beigh is addressing press about his decision on Sunday along with other leaders, KNS reported.
