Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers from Srinagar, Kulgam and Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police spokesman said that one person, riding a bike bearing registration No JK01U-8310 was nabbed from Malkha Chowk Nowhatta and 225gms of Charas was recovered from him.

He was identified as Mohd Sharief Dar resident of Miskeen Bagh Riyaza Taing Khanyar Srinagar.

Another person driving an auto bearing registration No JK01G-4383 was arrested at Khwaja Bazar Chowk. The auto driver, Fayaz Ahmad Lone resident of Bota Kadal Lalbazar Srinagar was found in possession of 185 banned tablets/capsules and was arrested, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Police in Kulgam and Awantipora have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

In Kulgam, during the intervening night of 11/12 November Police arrested one Nafees Ahmad Dar resident of Brazloo and recovered 10 Kg Poppy Straw from his possession, the spokesman said.

In Awantipora, Police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03-2890 driven by Ajaz Ahmad Manto resident of Waghama Bijbehara at village Kawani. During checking, 12 Kilograms of Poppy straw concealed in a gunny bag was recovered from him and he was arrested, the spokesman said.
