Block Diwas observed across all the districts of Kashmir division

SRINAGAR: The Block Diwas/Youm e Block, a part of ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme was today observed across all the districts of Kashmir division, during which concerned District Development Commissioners (DDC’s) and other officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.

The Block Diwas was observed to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their door steps.

The DDC’s on the occasion highlighted the objectives of the Jan Abhiyan, Jan Sunwayi, Dehi Taraqiyaati and Poshan Abhiyan programmes  informing the public that these grand public campaigns are aimed at reaching out to the people for redressal of their grievances and addressing developmental issues.

At Budgam: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza while addressing the public during the outreach program at Govt. BHSS, Block Khag said that the District Administration is committed to deliver services at the doorsteps of public and redressal of public grievances is the cornerstone of good governance.

During his day-long visit to Block Khag, the DDC while appreciating the people’s participation in the program urged the public to come forward and work as a team for the development of the area.

He instructed the line Departments to examine the issues and demands put forth by the public in the program and submit action taken report within a week.

The DDC during his visit met scores of public delegations/individuals and listened to their issues and grievances.

During the program, DDC appealed to the public to use water and electricity judiciously and distributed monetary assistance among Mothers with newborn babies, Ladli Beti certificates and wheelchairs among specially abled people.

The line departments of the district had installed stalls at the venue depicting and demonstrating various kinds of services, products and schemes meant for public welfare.

The program was attended by General Manager DIC, ACD besides District/Sectoral officers and other officials.

At Ganderbal: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today listened to public issues at Block Headquarter here during Block Diwas program.

On the occasion, PRI members and locals raised several demands of their areas including those related to day to day life.

The DDC sought an action taken report on all the previous issues projected by the local people.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main aim of conducting such programs is to ensure service delivery and prompt grievances redressal at the door steps of the public.

The DDC directed the concerned officers and officials of different departments to play a proactive role in fulfilling developmental requirements of the public.

He also appealed to people and PRIs to cooperate with the administration to ensure development in the district and stressed for making the best use of funds provided to each Panchayat by making comprehensive plans so that durable and community importance block level infrastructure could be created.

Block Diwas programs were also organized at different places of the district including Lar and Kangan blocks where people in large numbers interacted with the officers and officials of different departments and apprised them of the issues and demands.

At Kulgam: Mega Block Diwas was held today at 3 blocks viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora in the district.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat along with concerned officials remained available at Block D. H. Pora and listened to issues and grievances of people for timely redressal.

Bhat also took stock of action taken of the grievances/demands recorded in previous blocks.

The programme was attended by ACD/DPO, SDM Noorabad, and officers and officials of line departments besides, a large number of people and members of PRI’s were present on the occasion.

Pertinently, the programme witnessed massive response of the public in all 3 blocks and officers and officials from all line departments listened to issues, grievances and demands of people for on spot redressal.
