Three militants killed in Srinagar; one in Kulgam

Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Rangreth area of Srinagar district on Sunday afternoon.

A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a Joint team of security forces including Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about presence of militants in Rangreth area.

“As they approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. Exchange of fire is going on,” he said.

The officer said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area—(KNO)
