Srinagar : A 15-year-old boy drowned in a power canal near Fraw area of Gund in Kangan town in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday afternoon.

A police official said that a teenage boy, who is said to be mentally unsound, fell into the power canal.

“A rescue operation has been launched jointly by police, SDRF and locals,” the official said.

The boy has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Paswal son of Shabir Ahmad Paswal, a resident of Haknar, Gund.
