Jammu: Security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation in Balakote area of Poonch district after a suspicious firing incident close to the house of BJP leader Zulfkar Pathan.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that at about 3 AM , three shots were heard in Balakote area near the house of a BJP leader and the incident spread panic in the entire area.

They added that after observing suspicious movement, the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of the BJP leader Panthan fired in retaliation while it is being suspected that some unidentified men may also have fired towards the house as some bullet marks were seen on the walls.

Soon after the incident, army and police launched Cordon and Search Operation in the area which was going on when last reports were received. Zulfkar Pathan, the BJP leader has contested polls on party ticket in previous elections—(KNO)
