975 fresh COVID-19 cases take tally to 78,228

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 975 fresh instances of COVID-19 infection and 19 fatalities in a day, taking the caseload to 78,228 and death toll to 1,231 on Saturday, officials said.

According to them, the Jammu region recorded 591 cases and the Kashmir Valley 384. District-wise Jammu reported the highest 403 new cases, followed by 150 in Srinagar district, officials said.

There are 15,646 active cases of the coronavirus disease in the Union Territory, while 61,351 patients have recovered so far, they said.

Meanwhile, 19 deaths took place in 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir — 11 in Jammu and eight in the Valley, the officials said.

According to the daily media bulletin, out of 78228 positive cases, 15646  are active positive, 61351 have recovered and 1231 have died; 376 in Jammu division and 855 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 1685809 test results available, 1607581 samples have been tested as negative till October 03, 2020.

Till date 589383 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 21523 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 15646 in isolation and 48922 under home surveillance. Besides, 502061 persons have completed their surveillance period.

According to the bulletin, of the total 78228 positive cases in J&K, 8894 have been reported as travelers while 69334 as others.
