Advisor Baseer Khan reviews progress of transit accommodation for Kashmiri migrants

SRINAGAR : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting to review the progress of construction of Transit Accommodation for Kashmiri Migrants under Prime Minister’s Development Package at Civil Secretariat here.

The Advisor directed the department of  Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (DMRRR) to push for the completion of all the ongoing Transit Accommodation  and asked them to monitor the execution pace and remove bottlenecks, if any, expeditiously.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole, Secretary DMRRR, Simrandeep Singh,

Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), J&K Jammu, T K Bhat, Chief Engineer, PW(R&B), Showkat Jeelani and Deputy Director (Planning), DMPRR. Deputy Commissioners of the Kashmir valley attended the meeting through video conferencing.

While reviewing the progress, the Advisor directed the officers to redouble their efforts in chasing the targets and meeting the deadlines in view of the fact that not much of the time is left due to the approaching winter season.

The Advisor asked them to chase the matter with the concerned departments so that we are in a position to pace up the work. He also asked the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), J&K Jammu to personally visit the locations and monitor the progress of works periodically.

The government under PMDP- 2015 had decided to construct transit accommodation in each district of the Kashmir valley as per the number of recruitment made under Prime Minister’s Package.

The work is going concurrently at different stages in three phases at the various districts. In phase 1 work is going on in Vessu (Kulgam) and Sheikhpora (Budgam) where 48 and 64 2BHK flats have been completed while the work is going on the remaining flats.

In the second phase, transit accommodation will be constructed in Deegam (Shopian, Fatehpora (Baramulla), Khullangam Bagh (kupwara), Marhama (Anantnag), Odina (Bandipora) and Wandhama (Ganderbal) where the work is at different stages.

In the third phase, the accommodation will be created at Babadaryadin (Ganderbal), Machbawan (Anantnag) and Barsoo (Pulwama) where land is formally allotted and physically taken over and DPRs under formulation.

In the fourth phase, transit accommodation will be created in Shangus (Anantnag), Nuthnoosa (Kupwara) and Zewan (Srinagar) where land has been identified and transfer is under process.

The Advisor directed them to expedite the formulation of DPRs for the pending projects to be taken up under Prime Minister’s Development Programme and ensure their timely submission with the concerned agencies.
