Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 17 more COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, taking their number to 1,181, while 975 new cases pushed the infection tally in the Union territory to 75,070, officials said.

Eleven of the fresh fatalities were reported from Jammu and six from the Valley, they added.

There are 17,017 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVD-19) in the UT, while 56,872 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

“The UT recorded 975 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — with 568 in Jammu and 407 in the Kashmir valley,” an official said.

Jammu district reported the highest number of 353 new cases, followed by 173 in Srinagar district, the officials said.

Giving details about the fresh cases and fresh recoveries reported on Wednesday, officials said that Srinagar reported 173 Covid positive cases and 209 recoveries;  Baramulla, 53 cases and 17 recoveries; Pulwama, 33 cases and 39 recoveries; Kulgam, 06 cases and 13 recoveries; Shopian, 02 cases and 18 recoveries; Anantnag, 16 cases and 12 recoveries;  Budgam, 48 cases and 93 recoveries; Kupwara, 38 cases and 119 recoveries; Bandipora, 15 cases and; Ganderbal reported 23 new cases and 45 recoveries.

In Jammu division, Jammu district reported 353 cases and 560 recoveries; Rajouri, 27 cases; Ramban, 12 cases and 10 recoveries; Kathua, 12 cases and 49 recoveries; Udhampur, 41 cases and 02 recoveries; Samba, 24 cases and 41 recoveries; Doda, 18 cases and 56 recoveries; Poonch, 27 cases and 18 recoveries; Reasi, 19 cases and 13 recoveries and; Kishtwar reported 35 fresh cases and 41 recoveries.
