Deputation of specially abled persons calls on Advisor Khan

SRINAGAR : A deputation of specially abled persons today called on Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan at Civil Secretariat here and discussed the problems faced by these people and sought Advisor’s intervention for the redressal of the same.

The five-member deputation was led by Chairman Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline, Javed Ahmad Tak who put forth the grievances, issues and difficulties faced by specially abled persons in different areas.

Director General Women Child Development, Mir Tariq Ali; Executive Director J&K Rehabilitation Council, Ishfaq Ahmed and other concerned were also present.

Javed Ahmad Tak, an activist for differently abled persons submitted a detailed memorandum of demands regarding disability rights and other issues pertaining to implementation of reservation for the educated persons with disabilities in Panchayat Accounts Assistant posts.

Besides, the deputation also called for the increase in ISS amount in favour of these person; grant of hand controlled scooter in favour of female students with disability; implementation of 4 percent reservation in recruitments for eligible aspirants with disabilities as mandated by Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and release of marriage assistance in favour of female who are going to marry under J&K Marriage Assistance Scheme.

Tak further pointed out the problems faced by students with disabilities in seeking standard assistive and supportive devices, travel and escort allowance, scribe in examinations, provision of special educators and proper functioning of resource rooms.

Advisor Khan had a patient hearing and assured the visiting deputation that all their genuine issues would be taken at appropriate quarters and departments for early redressal.
