The protesting family members claimed that their daughter was forced by her in-laws including her husband to commit suicide. They alleged that the deceased ended her life after facing ‘dowry harassment’.

It may be in place to mention that the woman, who was married in Chadoora area of Budgam, according to police died at Sub-District Hospital Chadoora after consuming some poisonous substance. A formal case stands registered at a concerned police station in this regard.

“She was married to one Ghulam Rasool Wani from Namthal village of Chadoora in Budgam some eleven years ago. Her husband along with his family was harassing her for not fulfilling their dowry demands,” they alleged.

“We want an impartial probe as we are sure that she took the extreme step because of the pressure she faced from her in-laws,” the protestors alleged.
