BARAMULLA : As part of the ongoing “Jan Abhiyan” programme launched by the J&K administration before Back to Village-3, Block Divas was today celebrated across Baramulla district during which a mega function was organized in Tangmarg.

Principal Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, who is also In-charge Secretary for Monitoring Developmental Works Baramulla, participated and enlightened the participants about the broad contours of this ambitious programme.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo, Director Agriculture, Director Horticulture, SSP Baramulla, SDM Gulmarg, heads of various departments, BDC Chairpersons, district and sectoral officers, PRI representatives among other concerned stakeholders were also present on the occasion.

Principal Secretary inspected various stalls put up by Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts, Fisheries and other departments showcasing their services and other programmes meant for the overall welfare of the people.

Terming Jan Abhiyan and the upcoming B2V3 campaign as milestones towards achieving efficient and welfare governance, Principal Secretary urged the people to come forward with their developmental aspirations and needs adding that such programmes are being launched to ensure prompt and hassle free public service delivery. He termed the cooperation of people vital for development and said that every initiative is being taken to reach at people’s door-steps.

Enlisting various measures taken by the administration to develop agriculture and horticulture sectors, Navin Kumar said that special focus is being given to these sectors as agriculture and allied sectors has huge potential for employment generation. He also said that subsidy component ranging from 30%-50% is being given for establishing self employment units besides underlining the purpose of recently launched Atmanirbhar Bharat programme.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla in his welcome address highlighted the developmental scenario of the district besides presenting the aims and objectives of Jan Abhiyan. He also highlighted the performance recorded by the district in various sectors and said that farmers welfare through the proper development of agriculture and allied departments has been one of the priority areas of the district administration.

Moreover, DC informed that government has released Rs 10 lakh to every panchayat halqa in which Rs 20,000 shall be utilized on purchasing sports items as a move to promote sports culture among youth.

Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary distributed various certificates/ farming equipments among the identified beneficiaries. These include income/Domicile/RBA/ST certificates, labour registration cards, authority letters for KCC loans, power tillers, soil health cards, PM-Kisan authority letters, educational kits, among other useful items. He directed the concerned officers to issue these certificates in a speedy and time bound manner.

He also launched coffee table book of Baramulla district which highlights its developmental profile.
