Srinagar: The patients as well as the attendants at Lal Ded hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday complained that there were no proper arrangements for them at the hospital amid scorching heat.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an attendant from LD hospital said that from 01:00 PM today, the fans are not functional, thus leaving the patients as well as the attendants to lurch at large.

“The women who have delivered or will deliver babies at the hospital are being forced to face hardships due to the non-functional fans at the hospital,” the attendant said.

He added that he has approached many officials since the afternoon till 7:15 PM, but all in vain as nothing was done on the ground to ensure relief to the patients as well as attendants from scorching heat. “Nobody is bothered to look into the sufferings of the patients here,” he said.

“The temperature is high and it stands the responsibility of the concerned authorities to ensure the fans will function without any hindrance,” he said.

Many other attendants who were also present in the corridor appealed to the hospital administration to look into the matter and ensure the fans are functional at an earliest.

Medical Superintendent LD hospital, Dr Shabir Sidiqui told KNO that a technical snag had occurred somewhere in PDD. “It was at around 05:45 PM when the technical snag occurred and was rectified later by the PDD,” he said, adding that the generator was soon started but that will not take a heavy load, due to which the fans were not functional for merely one hour only.
