 Kreeri gunfight: Third militant killed, soldier succumbs

Baramulla: The third militant who had kept the forces engaged since yesterday  in the ongoing operation in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has been killed, while as an army man who was injured during the operation succumbed to his injuries.

A top Army official said that after a night-long lull, firing resumed in Kreeri encounter site early on Tuesday morning. “One more militant likely to be a Pakistani has been killed. He was hiding inside a hideout which was blasted by using IED and the search operation is still going on,” he added.

Meanwhile, another army soldier succumbed to his injuries at a military hospital, taking the death toll to eight.

Pertinently, six persons were killed in the gunfight yesterday including two CRPF troopers, one JKP cop, one Army soldier and two local LeT militants.
