Illegal constructions: Crime Branch teams visit SMC office, examine documents

Crime Branch registers case against Sachdeva Metal Works

Srinagar: Taking forward inquiry into mass allegation of illegal structures including shopping malls in Srinagar, teams of Crime Branch Kashmir on Saturday visited Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s office here and are “examining documents.”

Confirming it, a senior officer of crime branch Kashmir told GNS that the teams have been deputed to “examine” the documents in connection with the structures which come up recently in city.

On Friday last, Crime Branch Kashmir conducted raids at a number of places in Srinagar in connection with the illegal structures in the city.

There have been numerous allegations that SMC top brass allowed illegal structures including shopping malls to come up without following the due procedures, officials of the CBK said. “There also are complaints that some shopping complex have been allowed without provision of mandatory parking spaces. Also numerous complaints have been received that where the officials of the SMC have allowed large deviation of building permissions,” they said, adding, “At instances, there are complaints that some structures have been allowed without even permission.” (GNS)
