Dulloo lays foundation stone for drug testing laboratory at Lakhanpur

JAMMU : Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education, Atal Dulloo, today laid foundation stone for Modern Drug Testing Laboratory, to be raised with an estimated amount of Rs. 33.91 crore, at Lakhanpur, Kathua.

Pertinently, this ambitious project has been assigned to HITES (Noida) which is a subsidiary of HLL Limited that functions under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Financial Commissioner was informed that the Laboratory has been designed to test and analyze ten thousand samples of Medical products annually. The Laboratory shall be equipped with modern machinery and equipments required for identification, evaluation and estimation of Drug Molecules to the extent of Micro quantities and its design has been evolved to incorporate all the latest dimensions that are required to guarantee sustainability of reporting during any legal adjudication. Besides, it shall have an effective pharmaceutical quality management system (OMS) which will help to develop a culture of quality, support data integrity, keep suppliers under control & maintain overall compliance. The check list mandated to acquire NABL Accreditation shall be taken care of during the lay out and construction of the project.

Atal Dulloo asked the executing agencies and other involved departments to ensure that work on this project is completed within the fixed timelines. He hoped that establishment of this Modern Drug Testing Laboratory shall go a long way towards correcting public perception about quality issues surrounding availability of medical products in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the constraints of drug testing capacity shall be removed as also the reliability of analytical reports shall be ensured once the project gets completed.

Other senior officers present on the occasion included Shakeel-Ur-Rehman, Commissioner Food and Drugs Administration, O.P. Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Shalinder Kumar Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Dr. Anjali Nadir Bhat, Principal Medical College Kathua and Lotika Khajuria, State Drugs Controller and other concerned functionaries of district administration and Department of Drug & Food Control Organization.
